How to start learning networking

Demo article for reviewing the website layout.

Start with a simple network

Draw your home network: the router, your computer and the devices connected to it. Give each connection a label. This is a useful starting point for understanding how information travels.

Understand addresses and protocols

Learn what an IP address, subnet and default gateway do. Compare DNS with HTTP: one helps find a destination and the other carries a web request. Follow a request from browser to server.

Practice safely

Use your own devices or an isolated practice lab. Try basic connectivity checks and record what changes when a device disconnects. Only inspect traffic on systems you own or have permission to test.
